Little Indie launches today: new indie game platform presents lineup

Press Release

Dortmund, August 12 – The main goal of the new online distribution platform Little Indie, which officially launches Friday afternoon (August 12), is to raise the profile of independent games. Here, gamers can get immediate access to reviews of new releases from independent developers and download them at www.littleindie.net. In addition, the Little Indie site offers an array of features for every game, including online high score lists, achievement systems and an automatic update function that guarantees players constant access to the latest version of every title.

Shortly before its launch, Little Indie’s creators are offering a sneak peek into the games enthusiasts will find at www.littleindie.net immediately and within days of the portal’s opening. “When choosing titles we focused on compiling a lineup of games that covers a variety of genres. We wanted to ensure we had games for every type of player,” declared Little Indie’s Andreas Heldt.

Upon launch of the Little Indie site fans of tactical role-playing games will have access to games such as Arachnophobia from Chemical Games. In this game the player leads a special forces unit into battle against giant mutant spiders. To master every one of the game’s twelve levels it is essential to equip each soldier with the right weapons and strategically position them on the field of battle.

Without clever positioning, excellent cover and careful distribution of ammunition throughout the unit, you will be sure to fall prey to these gargantuan eightlegged

beasts.

Great Jitters: Pudding Panic from the gaming wizards at kunst-stoff GmbH is a real treat for every gamer. Help a green blob of gelatin navigate its way through 48 levels of railways in a house of horrors and employ all manner of crazy weapons and wily traps to scare away an array of frightening creatures. Sound awesome? Well, it is. With its innovative gameplay, exceptional graphics and expertly crafted maze, the iOS version of the game garnered the highest praise in reviews from an array of gaming publications and even took home a red dot design award. And now PC owners can enjoy this fearless yet jittery gelatin dessert.

On a different note, Cardinal Quest from Erectoric is a classic role-play game sporting a retro look. Players slip into the guise of a courageous fighter, a thief or a wizard and venture through dungeons warding off all manner of monsters and demons before facing off in a final battle with the gruesome Minotaur. A range of adversaries of varying strength, items and weapons make it possible to employ a number of strategies to defeat the mighty enemy.

Because each level is randomly generated, no player will ever get bored on this adventurous monster hunt.

Here are more titles that will be available at Little Indie in the coming days:

- The Great White Destroyer – You are a great white shark and must do all you can to terrorize every beach you ventures across.

- Spring Up Harmony – An action puzzle with a well-honed physics engine.

- Cubetastic – Turn the cells on the surface of a large 3-D cube in order to move a lit cell on the top of the cube to a predefined space.

The creators of Little Indie and associated game developer teams will be at the disposal of trade visitors who make it to the trade fair gamescom in Cologne. From August 17 to August 19 those interested in learning more about this distribution platform and the titles that will be available when it is launched can visit Stand D31/E30 in Hall 4.1 (G.A.M.E. Bundesverband) – and test out the games while you’re there. What’s more, on Friday, August 19 at 11:00 a.m. an official press conference will be held to discuss Little Indie.
