MOUNT SHASTA, CA– May, 2010– Lucidsphere Media, LLC announces the release of their first title, The Necronomicon Card Game, for Apple iPhone and iPod Touch.

The Necronomicon Card Game invites fans of fantasy and horror role-playing games to immerse themselves in the nightmarish world of H.P. Lovecraft, the father of modern horror.

Throughout his stories, H.P. Lovecraft frequently made references to moldering, forbidden tomes and ancient books which contained secrets that man was never meant to know. Some of these were actual occult texts, but the most infamous one of all, and the one about which he had the most to say, was the abhorred Necronomicon. An ancient tome used to summon unnamable horrors and atrocities into material existence.

Lucidsphere Media Games Studio developed The Necronomicon Card Game as an innovative way to experience the compulsive fun of role-playing and collectible card games while on the go. The game promises to be unique in its’ class, and will be available this summer on the iTunes App Store.

“Role-playing games have always been fun, but these days a lot of people don’t have the time to invest in a game which can take hours to play,” remarks Dustin Neff, founder of Lucidsphere Media.“I wanted to make a role-playing card game which someone could carry around in their pocket, so to speak. Most games like this require groups of players, a significant investment of money in books and other materials, and hours if not days of your free time. The Necronomicon Card Game can be played for five minutes, wherever you happen to be. If you’re interrupted, you can come back later and resume your game where you left off.”

The Necronomicon Card Game combines the quick, easy to learn, addictive pace of fantasy card games with the mechanics of more in depth role-playing games, where dice are tossed to determine the outcomes of events and encounters. You can win achievements in the game to unlock new cards, and there will be future support for downloadable expansions and new game features.

During the game you’ll take on a variety of roles, becoming both investigators and innocents swept up in a battle against cosmic horrors. With the help of allies, weapons, secret information, strategy, and a few turns-of-fate, you’ll attempt to stop the minions of Cthulhu from entering our world.

The Necronomicon Card Game will feature over 80 beautifully hand-painted cards, making it one of the most ambitious card games in the mobile arena - created by a‘dream team’ of talented artists who have worked for some of the biggest movie, comic book, book publishing, and game studios in the world– and who have all brought H.P. Lovecraft’s world to life in unprecedented luster and detail.
