Blitz Games Studios are pleased to announce that their inaugural Meet the Experts web chat was a resounding success.

Meet the Programmers saw over a hundred participants joining in during the hour and a half live event, where Blitz Technical Manager Claude Dareau and Senior Programmer Ashley Hogg (from the studio’s BlitzTech and R&D teams respectively) answered a wide variety of questions from the audience, ranging from programming languages and tips on how make a portfolio stand out, to what to expect during a first interview and how to increase self-confidence in skill level.

The whole conversation can now be found on the Blitz Games Studios website at for those who were unable to join in on the day. In addition, the Blitz team will shortly be posting answers to many of the other questions that there wasn’t time to tackle on the night.

“We were absolutely delighted with the turnout to the event, and by the number of questions we received from participants, all of whom were eager to tap into the knowledge of our experts”, says Philip Oliver, CEO. “There is a very real and vital need to support those wanting to get into games development. In our first web event we saw that whilst almost half of the participants identified themselves as games students, another quarter were looking to get into the games development from other industries. I’d certainly like to see more studios take the initiative to break down their barriers and share the knowledge of their creatives with those new to the industry.”

Blitz Games Studios has a long and proud tradition of supporting those who are passionate about working in game development through its long-established education outreach initiative Blitz Academy. This new series of web chats will now join other events, such as studios’ highly successful student Open Days, as a key part of their ongoing calendar of academic and career support. All of the web chats in the Meet the Experts series will be archived on the Blitz Games Studios website in the same way as the first event, with the ultimate aim of creating a highly targeted and informative discipline-specific resource for the future.

Details of subsequent web chats, which will also target development veterans looking to progress with their career as well as newcomers to the industry, will be announced on the Blitz Games Studios website and social media feeds shortly.

Blitz Games Studios is actively recruiting across all disciplines and for projects targeting a variety of new and upcoming platforms. Full details of all current vacancies are available on the Studio’s careers website:
