London, 5 th November 2012 – Today, members of the UK games industry are pleased to announce the conception of a brand new choir formed of 24 men and women from across the industry including OBEs, CEOs, Managing Directors, PRs, sales people and marketeers. The choir will hold its first performance at the GamesAid Christmas Concert, taking place on Wednesday, 19 th December at St. Stephen's, Rosslyn Hill. Tickets cost £20 per adult and £10 for under 16s and are available now from www.justgiving.com/christmasconcert.
Taking inspiration from the BBC’s The Choir, the industry choir is the brainchild of Ian Chambers, IGN’s VP and Managing Director, International. With Ian conducting the evening’s events, the Games On Song line-up comprises the likes of Andy Payne OBE, Ian Livingstone OBE, Rob Cooper, Keith Ramsdale and John Clark, all lending their free time and vivacious voices to support the industry’s charity, GamesAid. The night promises to be something you’ve never seen before and tickets are expected to sell-out soon.
The GamesAid Christmas Concert is also delighted to have the following sponsors help make the event happen, including Ubisoft, EA, SEGA, Mastertronic, OnLive and IGN.
Ian Chambers, comments, “What started as a dream in March is now becoming reality. 24 people from the games industry, most of whom have never sung in a choir before will take centre stage in front of their peers on 19 th December. Games On Song is already proving that singing can bring people together like nothing else.”
Andy Payne OBE, comments, “When Ian suggested that we form a choir and raise money for GamesAid, I agreed on the spot. It was only afterwards that I realised aside from my Punk Rock days, I had never sung a note and I was indeed coming from a deep Bass voice type. But in Ian we trust. This has been amazing fun and hard work so far and we haven't performed live yet!”
