HONG KONG, OCTOBER 5 – Mobeep, the new and interactive application store for the Symbian and Android mobile platforms, is proud to announce that through many efforts and collaboration with app developers, it will achieve 5000 apps in the store by the end of October this year. Following the decision to expand into foreign mobile markets, Mobeep has seen the expansion of users, thus creating more apps to cater to their demand.
Fresh from debuting with 500 apps over a few months ago, with the increasing demand on apps that are specific to geography has enabled users to use the smartphone to their ease. Achieving 5000 apps for Mobeep has been another milestone for Mobeep because while the user base has been diverse and unique, all the apps featured are well-received by mobile users.
“We’ve received feedbacks that the mobile experience was better than expected because our apps are globally available, yet catered to users’ local needs at the same time. This fits well with our ‘Glocalisation’ concept and we’re happy to see the apps store grow into a well-accepted brand throughout various mobile platforms,” said Ozura World CEO Mike Pearse.
This is in accordance to the latest research released by Ovum, which mobile phone apps are expected to reach five billion downloads in the Asia Pacific by the end of this year with revenues of USD 871 million. The Asia Pacific market will be a proven fertile ground for Android reportedly with an estimate of 1.8 billion downloads compared to Apple’s 1.5 billion downloads.
“Choosing to develop Mobeep over the Android platform has proven to be the concrete and wise choice as we can see from the returns of the amount of feedback we received from the people using Mobeep. Throughout these few months we’ve been improving the interface, and now with Mobeep’s expansion strategy taking place, we’re beginning to see concrete results and we’re hopeful that by having 5000 apps with many thanks from our developers, we are bringing a different mobile experience to the mobile communities” he said.
Mike Pearse also said that the Asia Pacific mobile market is volatile and it trends differently compared to the US market, which are largely dominated by apps developed by the US Corporation because of their reliability and their familiarity with the local culture there.
“Entering the Asia Pacific market proved to the correct stepping stone as the very different demographics in the market has called for Mobeep to come up with different marketing strategy, in which helped the company gained the upper hand in targeting and strategizing with the “Glocalisation” concept. There is more diversity in behaviourial patterns that existed in the Asia Pacific, so this gives more opportunities to engage with different developers and build up a network so that the apps are useful to different target audience. The mobile market is a versatile market and we hope there is, literally, an app for everyone,” he added.
