More Content, more Platforms, more Multiplayer – Fishlabs opens QA Department

Hamburg, February 23rd, 2012 – Recently, Fishlabs opened an in-house Quality Assurance department and hired two new employees, who will make sure that the award-winning titles of the renowned Hamburg-based mobile games developer will continue to fulfil the highest quality expectations. Paul Guillaumon joined the ranks of Fishlabs as Head of QA on February 15 th, 2012, and Thomas Bark will join the company as Lead Tester on March 15 th, 2012.

The QA department, which is going to be further expanded in the future, shall relieve the development team from QA duties and hence make sure that content updates for the Galaxy on Fire™ series and Sports Car Challenge franchise can be released at frequent intervals. Furthermore, it will also help Fishlabs to enter new stationary and mobile platforms.

Paul Guillaumon (38) has been working in the games industry for more than 14 years. He had last operated as a Producer at dtp entertainment. Before his engagement with dtp entertainment, he had worked for a number of renowned studios such as Software 2000 and Ascaron Entertainment as well as the mobile specialists of Handy Games, for whom he build up and managed the QA department from the start. All in all, Guillaumon has worked on more than 70 titles in various capacities, such as game designer, project manager, developer and QA manager. Due to his extensive know-how and experience, Paul is well-prepared to refine and optimize the company’s development procedures and processes even further.

Prior to joining Fishlabs, the trained banker Thomas Bark (34) had been working as a Software Tester and Lead Tester at dtp entertainment for more than four years. As a PC gamer from day one, he is well familiar with the classics and insider tips of a huge variety of genres and his excellent eye for detail and quality-oriented manner of work will make sure that the name Fishlabs continues to stand for high-quality games on the hottest platforms in the world.

“Among others, Fishlabs’ nomination as “Best Studio” at the German Game Developer Awards 2011 has clearly shown that mobile games have finally closed the gap on PC and console games. Despite the fact that mobile gaming is a rather young industry which had not been overly popular at the beginning, the lightning-fast development of the latest mobile devices and technologies offers more and more possibilities to developers and users alike. Due to the permanent network connection and the enormous install base, mobile is almost predestined for continuous advancements on the one hand and multiplayer gameplay on the other,” says Michael Schade, CEO of Fishlabs Entertainment. “This recent trend does not only pose new challenges to our developers time and again, but also increases the need for well-structured QA procedures manifold. Hence we are extremely happy to have Paul and Thomas on board. Both of them are skilled and experienced QA specialists who will aid us a lot in the creation of exciting and enthralling cross platform titles “Made in Germany” with unique gameplay mechanics and high replay values.”
