Playpen Studios today announced the release of Deep Crates Volume 1, a set of new playable mixes now available for its hit iPad TM music and rhythm title, Skillz for iPad. All five mixes may now be purchased and downloaded from within the Skillz app as a package for $3.99 or individually for $0.99 each. The Deep Crates Volume 1 track pack includes:

Skillz’s rhythm-based DJing gameplay has proven popular with gamers, hitting #1 in the Music Games category in over 20 countries, and as high as #7 in Arcade (UK) and the #1 spot in other countries on the App Store charts. In the game, players select a DJ and strive to achieve superstardom, gaining fans by scratching and tapping their way through original remixes using virtual turntables, a crossfader and sample buttons. With today’s release, Skillz features a total of 34 tracks to play through, across five venues, with six DJs. A Lite version is also available on the App Store and features several songs for gamers to spin for free.

About Playpen Studios
Playpen Studios is a Hong Kong-based independent video game developer founded by Joe Gilbertson and James Wong in 2005. After winning a game design competition hosted by Microsoft, the duo went on to become certified developers for the Xbox platform and performed a multitude of project-based services for Chinese developers and publishers.
