Tandem Events today announced that Ben Cousins, general manager of ngmoco Sweden and Free to Play pioneer, will give the opening keynote talk at the inaugural F2P Summit to take place at RichMix in Shoreditch on 28 March 2012.
Widely regarded as a leading authority on freemium game development and operation, Cousins’ presentation – Free to Play: Past, Present & Future - will examine the F2P business model as it was in 2005 and how it was perceived then; comparing it with who the biggest players are today, current monetisation techniques and attitudes and finally trends for the future and where he thinks we’ll be in 2020.
Since its foundation in July 2008, there have been 81 million installs of games using ngmoco’s Plus+ platform, and there are currently 13.5 million active Plus+ users, who have 55 million friend connections. The Plus+ network hosts around 60 million gameplay minutes per day of ngmoco owned games.
Other sessions confirmed so far include:
Long Face, Long Tail. My Horse and its Time on the App Store
Struan Robertson, Product Director, NaturalMotion Games
Robertson will highlight the ways in which teams need to build not only the right mechanics for their game pre-launch but also the right support strategy post-launch.
Broader Audiences in Games; They Are There, How Do You Get to Them?
Phil White, VP of 8Realms, Jagex
