Oberon Media Brings the Tetris® Game to Samsung Apps, Samsung's Smart TV Application Marketplace

NEW YORK - June 14, 2011 - Oberon Media, the world's leading multi-platform casual games company, today brings one of the world's most popular video games of all time to Samsung Apps, the world's first HDTV-based application store.  As the exclusive distributor of the Tetris® game on connected televisions, Oberon's deal with Samsung marks the beloved game's worldwide debut on the burgeoning connected TV platform.  In order to optimize the experience for Samsung Apps users, Oberon created a customized version of the Tetris game which is optimized for the Samsung Smart TV.

"We are delighted to offer Tetris, the all-time favorite casual game, to our Smart TVs," said Kang-hyun Kwon, Senior Vice President of Media Solution Center at Samsung Electronics.  "The Tetris brand power and entertainment value will generate awareness of Samsung Apps, while driving user engagement and generating revenue."

"We are excited by the phenomenal growth of Samsung Apps and are thrilled to debut Tetris on Samsung's robust platform.  This will bring one of the best and most well-known game brands to the leading manufacturer of connected living-room devices," said Bob Sirmans, Senior Vice President of Business Development for Oberon Media.  "As the demand for these devices and services continues to grow, we are leveraging our industry leadership position in developing games for televisions to steadily build a portfolio of the most sought-after and popular games."

Users can now purchase the Tetris game on 2011 Samsung Smart TVs for $4.99 and use the trial version for free.*

"As we continue our partnership with Oberon Media, we're excited to see Tetris expand to the connected TV platform," said Henk Rogers, President and CEO, Blue Planet Software, Inc. "Samsung Smart TV provides an innovative way for Tetris fans to have the game delivered right to their homes, and we're looking forward to seeing the platform in action!"

Created in 1984 by Russian-born mathematician Alexey Pajitnov, the Tetris game revolutionized puzzle games with its distinctive "falling" blocks, called Tetriminos, that players could arrange in real time along the bottom of the rectangular playing field, or "Matrix," in order to clear lines.  Since then, the game has been translated into more than 50 languages and it is played in more than 185 countries worldwide.  The game has been developed for more than 50 different gaming platforms with hundreds of millions of units sold.

* The service is offered in the US and South Korea.
