For Immediate Release
Wilkes-Barre, PA, May 10, 2012 - Dark Tonic, an independent video game studio, has launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the release of their first mobile game, Wall Street Titan. Inspired by the Occupy movement, Wall Street Titan allows the player to take out their frustrations with the economy by squishing 8-bit Wall St. types.
Wall Street Titan is described as a first person smash 'em up that targets the 1%. Its aim is to be a stress reliever for the 99% - a way to "stick it to the man" and feel powerful by squashing tiny bankers and causing destruction and mayhem. “We’ve all been there, we’ve all felt that frustration,” says founder Eric Boosman. “No matter your tax bracket, we believe you'll love smashing your stress away as judge, jury, and squashecutioner.” Dark Tonic estimates the game to be close to 90% complete and they are on schedule to launch this Summer, so backers won't have long to wait to see the results of their contribution.
Dark Tonic launched its Kickstarter project on April 25, 2012 in order pay for licenses for both iPhone and Android, a full musical score and other upgrades to their game. They have given themselves just 30 days, until May 26, to raise the $15,000 they need. Rewards for backers include scrolling a message in the game's menu, a destructible truck with your logo or image, a pixel version of yourself in the game, as well as standard perks such as t-shirts, posters and a listing in the game credits. All reward levels include a full copy of the game.
The studio previously reached out to the public to decide the name of their first release. Over 100 names were submitted and the top choices battled it out on Dark Tonic's Facebook page with Wall Street Titan handily beating other name submissions.
Dark Tonic opened its doors in 2011, led by game industry veteran, Eric Boosman. The developers involved with Wall Street Titan include award-winning AAA developers, coding vets, and a Grammy-nominated audio director. Boosman himself has held key roles on several award winning releases, most recently as Creative Director on Need for Speed: SHIFT and SHIFT 2: Unleashed.
The Kickstarter campaign for Wall Street Titan ends May 26, 2012. Wall Street Titan will be available for iPhone, iPod, iPad and Android devices.
