Deep from the bowels of their WW2 bunker, the sound of chinking glass and cheers of congratulations can be heard across Hamburg. Periscope Studio, one of Europe’s most innovative videogame audio studios has cause for celebration.

Periscope has been very busy and following the recent German Computer Game Awards 2011, very successful. Over the past 12 months, Periscope has focused its attentions on developing a broad variety of audio services for a number of clients across Europe. Their fresh thinking and integrated approach to videogame audio has won it many new admirers and many new projects.

During the German Computer Game Awards, four of their latest game projects won their respective categories citing their original scores as a major contribution to their wins.

A New Beginning from Daedalic Entertainment won Best German Game and Best Youth Game, Fishlabs Entertainment’s Galaxy on Fire 2 won Best Mobile Game and Energetika from Takomat won Best Serious Game.

Guido Doublet, CEO of Takomat said;“I would like specially thank our partner Periscope Studio from Hamburg.‘Energetika’ would not have won the German Computer Game awards if the jury had not been impressed by the music and sound of the game. Therefore I thank Periscope and I’m looking forward to our future projects together.”

Their recent success has finally encouraged Periscope to expand and develop a Core Soundtrack team to wholeheartedly focus on future AAA videogame projects. Finn Seliger, Periscope’s Head of Creation heads up the new team:“While maintaining high-quality for all our other audio services we’re furthermore passionate to breaking fresh ground for interactive soundtrack design. Besides our music middleware psai® being“ready for action” we have brought in three very talented composers whose previous clients have included NASA / ESA, Audi, Red Bull and Sony and we believe that their experience from outside the videogames industry as well as their curiosity for the new technology will build on our growing reputation for high quality, original and innovative soundtracks”.

With their growing reputation for being a‘one stop audio solution’, their new Core Soundtrack team and an award-winning videogame portfolio to their credit, the future of Periscope is very bright indeed. As the CEO of Fishlabs Entertainment, Michael Schade said;“We rely on Periscope’s quality. Period.” Enough said.
