FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Philadelphia, May 27, 2009 - Lunar Tide Communications, Inc. announced today a television marketing and sales partnership for the Video Game Expo (a.k.a. VGXPO) with the CBS and CW stations in Philadelphia.
Starting this summer, CBS3 (KYW-TV), The CW Philly (WPSG-TV) and VGXPO will begin a long-term television and marketing partnership that will reach out to millions of gamers.
VGXPO has defined itself as a premier gaming event that targets both core and casual gamers. With the CBS and The CW marketing relationship, VGXPO will continue to focus on growing these audiences through television marketing in morning and evening news, and on programming such as Smallville, Reaper, Supernatural and South Park.
“We are thrilled to be teaming up with not one, but two, major television networks,” said Ed Fleming, Founder of Video Game Expo.
“The partnerships provide us with the ability to reach the massive audiences from both CBS and The CW. In addition, we can now also provide companies, that want to tap into VGXPO media, the added advertising power that only TV marketing can provide.”
VGXPO was created from the ground up to provide a place for gamers to come together to celebrate the hobby that so many people love. Over it’s five-year life, VGXPO attendance has grown by double digits each year. This year attendance is expected to grow significantly and reach beyond 30,000 gamers.
“It’s amazing how fast VGXPO has grown and how it’s become a mecca for east coast gaming. The convention saw over 24,000 people last year,” stated Fleming. "With involvement from CBS and The CW, this year will be even larger."
VGXPO was created by Ed Fleming, a lifelong gamer who started his career in the game industry as a teenager. At 14 years old, Ed was the video game expert for the NPR radio show‘Kids Corner’. At the same time, Ed started a business where he leased his classic Nintendo and Sega video game collection to video rental stores in the suburbs of Philadelphia. Over the past 21 years Ed has continued to develop game and pop-culture related businesses, including: summer camps that teach kids how to make games, video game websites, Star Trek and Sci-Fi conventions and most recently, the Video Game Expo.
“I created Video Game Expo so that gamers could come together to play games and revel in their favorite pastime. As a fan of games and the game industry, running VGXPO is the best job I could ever imagine,”
said Fleming.“I personally can’t wait for this year’s show.“
Taking place October 9th through the 11th, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, PA, VGXPO is an event that provides companies in video game, technology, sci-fi, comic book and related fields an opportunity to showcase products to gamers and pop-culture fans. For gamers, VGXPO gives them an opportunity to experience the newest games and technology; encounter game industry legends; compete in tournaments; rock out at music concerts; compete in COS-Play contests; buy games; and meet with friends.
