Montreuil, May 23th 2013. Anuman Interactive has launched "Pirates vs Corsairs – Davy Jones’ Gold", its new strategy and action game on PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad and Android devices, under the Microïds – Games for All label.
Davy Jones’ gold has been lying in the bottom of the sea for several years… It’s time to get fetch it. A race against time is on! As the players face the AI or another player, stratagems and dexterity are the key to get hold of strategic spots on the battle map. This way, they will get the best assets to overrule any opposition.
Obviously, the game starts with an aerial view strategic map split up into several areas. The players can move their boats in turns to try and get hold of the areas that offer the more ressources. Some have a port (players get money if they manage to control two ports linked by a seaway).
If enemy units face in the same area, two different options can solve the conflict. At the beginning of the game, players decide whether they want to take part in action scenes, in which reflexes will define the outcome of the battle or just play in Tactic mode. In this case, the skirmishes are dealt with by having all the present forces throw the dice (a three ship armada will statistically have less chance of winning than an armada of six).
Three different action phases are available: Naval battles: players try to send the most appropriate units against the opposite forces,
with the mouse or the touch screen. Attacking or defending the ports: in a third-person view, players must shoot the agressive
and armed enemies, intermittently hidden behind the various elements of the scenery. Attacking the galions: on board their small boat, attacking players try to reach the bow of
the ship by avoiding all kinds of objects that the defenders are throwing at them.
To spice up the battles, storms, shark attacks and ghost ships are among the random events that might weigh on the outcome and either steal the final victory or help the players win.
In order to reinforce or multiply the troops on the field, players can spend the gold won during the game, in the dedicated shop. They can also get efficient protections against random events.
Strategic phases and action scenes all begin with a tutorial, so that the players hold all the cards to make the right decisions and have a maximum chance during the battles.
Two multiplayers modes are included: In turns, on the same machine (PC or mobile), in entirely configurable games, in Tactic mode. The battles are solved by throwing the dice and calculating statistics. The game can be saved at any time. Two players can also fight in a local network. Each must have one game on his own machine. They can then choose to activate the action phases or stay in pure Tactic mode. Note that the game is cross-platform and can therefore be played in Versus mode on different types of machines (PC versus iPad, Mac versus Android…).
"Pirates vs Corsairs – Davy Jones’ Gold " is available as of May 23th 2013 on iPhone, iPad, iPod and Android device and soon on PC and Mac in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Japanese.
