SAN JOSE, CA. - October 3, 2011 – PlayPhone®, Inc., a global leader in mobile social gaming, today announced the appointment of Scott Prather to the position of senior director of business development, effective immediately. Prather will lead teams responsible for developer and carrier relations.
Prather has held several senior positions with notables in the wireless, entertainment and mobile gaming industries, including I-play, T-Mobile USA and The Walt Disney Company. Prather arrives at PlayPhone from OpenFeint, where he played an instrumental role in the creation, evolution and growth of its developer and carrier relations programs. As director of strategic relationships, Prather built partnerships with leading industry content developers, platforms, device OEMs, wireless carriers, and distribution outlets. In addition, Prather successfully developed and managed a first-of-its-kind agreement with AT&T positioning OpenFeint as one of AT&T's key mobile gaming partners. In his new role with PlayPhone, Prather will be responsible for the strategic management and growth of the PlayPhone developer community, servicing and expanding the company’s existing wireless carrier relationships, as well as fostering new relationships across the industry.
“We are pleased to have Scott come on board, as his base of experience supporting carriers and the development community from both an in-house standpoint as well as an external partner is extremely valuable to PlayPhone,” said Anders Evju, senior vice president and general manager, PlayPhone Social. “Our success in this industry is predicated on being able to offer customers the best in mobile social gaming. Scott has the right base of experience and strong industry relationships to help us extend the breadth of content offered through the PlayPhone social gaming network.”
“I am tremendously excited about the opportunity within PlayPhone,” added Scott Prather. “PlayPhone has pivoted into a forward-looking cross-platform social gaming network that has quite a bit of momentum on its side. Helping developers monetize on existing platforms such as iOS and Android, as well as upcoming technologies like HTML5 is fantastic, but having all of these platforms play nicely together is the icing on the cake. I am thrilled to get started helping PlayPhone support its existing relationships, attract new business opportunities and secure the very best games for the network.”
