VANCOUVER, Canada - May 19, 2011
Yesterday at the 2nd annual Canadian Videogame Awards in Vancouver, Frima Studios received the award for Best Social/Casual game for Pocket God on Facebook. Since its release in December 2010, the playful“Good God, Bad God” simulator has quickly made its way into the hearts of many with over 500,000 players on Facebook. Pocket God on Facebook, the essential anti-social social game, is based on Bolt Creative’s Pocket God for iOS, one of the most successful apps of all time with over 4 million paid downloads.
“We’re ecstatic to have been granted this huge honor for our work in the casual and social gaming market with Pocket God,” said Frima CEO Steve Couture.“Casual social games are clearly growing in popularity and the Canadian Videogame Awards are keen to recognize this trend early on. We will continue to strive to bring high quality games to our players while pushing the boundaries of the medium forward.”
In Pocket God, you are given total power and control over your island of Pygmies.
You’ll use your powers to decide whether to care for, or create havoc on your island. Cue the good god, bad god– you will have both benevolent powers to assist the islanders in obtaining nourishment, or you can choose to cause destruction and chaos with countless creative ways to dispatch your Pygmies.
