Newcastle, England – August 30th, 2011 – The Indie Stone are proud to announce that the first update for their zombie survival game Project Zomboid has been released – and is now available to download by all those subscribing to the game’s development through pre-purchases.
“We are overjoyed to have released our first update” said Chris ‘Lemmy’ Simpson. “The response to our game has been nothing short of incredible and we’re really excited at where we’re headed. This update introduces new degrees of character customisation, a new sandbox mode, full modding support and numerous new items to find and craft – but we still have a long way to go! We’re overjoyed that such a strong community has grown around us, and are coming with us on what we hope will be quite an amazing ride.”
The current game is being hosted on digital distribution service Desura, who have created a new alpha-funding system in response to the demand. “It’s brilliant to see the fans of games like Project Zomboid fund development” said Scott Reismanis from Desura. “We knew there had to be a way for gamers to pay for early access to projects they want to see developed, and were delighted to help out”.
“Those wanting a free taster of Project Zomboid should download our alpha tech demo from Desura or Fileplanet” explained The Indie Stone’s Andy ‘Binky’ Hodgetts. “If gamers then want full access to every stage of the game’s development then they can subscribe by going to www.desura.com (which supports PayPal), or buy directly from our site if they prefer. Also, anyone who has previously bought from us and would like to activate their copy on Desura can do so here: http://www.desura.com/games/project-zomboid/activate.”
This gameplay update is the first of many throughout the rolling development of Project Zomboid. The Indie Stone implore survivors to keep an eye on www.projectzomboid.com in coming months to discover the new and exciting ways in which they will experience a messy, and quite inevitable, death.

Quite how long you manage to put it off is another mater…
