‘ Selected Projects 2012’ supporting new talent
Each year at Game Connection Europe, over 250 individual game projects are presented to key global publishing and distribution decision makers. Prior to the 2010 launch of the ‘ Selected Projects’ initiative, Game Connection ran the ‘ Level Up’ program, and has clocked up ten years of supporting innovative emerging businesses. Success stories to date have included Playdead and Bulkypix.
The ‘ Selected Projects’ initiative gives developers an opportunity to lift their project above the crowd, be seen by the right people, and increase their chances of making the most valuable connections in an increasingly complex and competitive games market.
‘Selected Companies 2012’ for tomorrow’s industry leaders
This award is designed for CEOs and business development managers eager to demonstrate their skills and the financial potential of their business to an audience of regional and global investors. Ten companies will be shortlisted, with each earning recognition as being among the ten most innovative companies at Game Connection Europe 2011.
In 2010, the international panel of experts awarded the ‘ Best Project’ title to French studio Swing Swing Submarine for their game Seasons After Fall. In addition to the main award, Game Connection media partner Gamesindustry.biz presented the ‘ Gamesindustry.biz Choice Award’ to Uncanny Fish Hunt from fledgling French team Uncanny Games. Both companies have continued to make significant inroads into the industry. The most recent Swing Swing Submarine title, ' Blocks That Matter', is available now via Steam and Xbox Live Marketplace, while the latest project from Uncanny Games will be announced shortly.
Other nominees also benefited significantly from their exposure in 2010.
" The concept of Selected Projects is fantastic as it helps developers to showcase their creative and innovative designs. One of our recent acquisitions, Puddle from Neko, on the PlayStation®Network and Xbox Live® platforms was featured last year! I will definitely be attending future Selected Projects events,” said Careen Yapp, VP Acquisitions and Franchise Development at Konami.
