(N.B. The monthly games chart is based on titles released and reviewed in the last month. The apps chart is based on titles reviewed over the last three months. Hence, this is not a cumulative chart and earlier released titles may have higher scores.)
Taking one of the best-loved Xbox Live Arcade games and squeezing it onto the iPad with some style, the developer of lush 2D action-RPG Bastion almost guaranteed itself the top spot in the iPad Qi game chart for August 2012 by default. Down in second, Illusion Labs's Blast-A-Way successfully mixes head-scratching logical puzzles with a gorgeous 3D world and plenty of explosives. In any other month, charming speedrun platformer Mikey Shorts might have expected to take top spot, but on this occasion it comes in a respectable third given the stiff competition. At #6, meanwhile, is epic Zelda-esque adventure game Horn, which brings a beautiful 3D fantasy world and a rip-roaring plot to our August leaderboard.
The UEFA European Football Championship cast a spotlight on the Ukraine this summer, and the top-ranked iUkraine app is your perfect travel guide should you choose to holiday there any time soon. In second place, CamCom: Camera+Compass does exactly what it says on the tin, providing a compass overlay for your camera snaps. And while we're on the subject of descriptive app titles, Guide For Scribblenauts Remix Version HD has performed well over the past four weeks, finishing in fifth on the iPad Qi app chart. We'll leave you to guess what it does. Arguably the coolest iPad app of the month, however, is Atelier Pfister, which charted at #7. This app uses fancy augmented reality technology to let you visualise its stylish furniture collection in your room. No, it just won't fit, Sheila. I keep telling you that. Gar.
We'll continue to provide an updated listing each and every month, together with a round-up of the year. For all the up-to-date information on which iPad games, apps, and publishers are reviewing best, head on over to the iPad Quality Index now.
