RakNet Joins the PS3 Tools and Middleware Program

Costa Mesa, CA (February 10, 2010) -- The most widely used open source network game engine, RakNet is announcing support for the PlayStation ® 3.

Available immediately to registered developers, RakNet adds support for the PlayStation ® Network family of services, including online matchmaking, audio video chat, and title user storage.

Jason King, a former Technical Director at Sony Online Entertainment, said "We developed JEOPARDY! and Wheel of Fortune for the Playstation ® Network. We budgeted a substantial amount towards network integration, but RakNet dramatically reduced the cost. Support was excellent. Since the two games’ releases, both JEOPARDY! and Wheel of Fortune have had flawless network performance."

RakNet will be demoing PS3 support at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco at booth 844 from March 11th to March 13th. Interested developers may schedule a demo or request an evaluation by emailing gdcdemo@jenkinssoftware.com
