Red Redemption wins Climate Week Award for Best Artistic Response with their new game Fate of the World

The awards were announced at a special ceremony at Lancaster House to mark the launch of UK Climate Week with a speech from Lord Marland, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State of Energy and Climate Change, and a message from the Prime Minister.

Fate of the World is a dramatic global strategy game covering the next two centuries, from 2020 to 2200, in which the player must find a way to protect Earth's ever-depleting resources and climate whilst reconciling the needs of a growing world population who demand more food, power, and living space. Time is running out.

Having secured the very best in creative gaming talent with veteran games designer Matt Miles Griffiths ( Battlestations: Midway, Futurama, Rogue Trooper, and Thunderbirds GBA), music from critically acclaimed composer Richard Jacques ( Mass Effect, Alice in Wonderland and James Bond: Blood Stone) and writing by award-winning screen writer David Bishop ( Doctor Who, 2000 AD and Judge Dredd Magazine), the game has already been highly praised.

The game has four challenging missions with over 40 hours of compelling gameplay covering 12 regions and steeped in the latest climate science based on the research of Prof. Myles Allen at Oxford University. Fate of the World simulates the real social and environmental impact of global climate change over the next 200 years.

The mission: Solve the crisis. But, like life, it won’t be easy. Will players help the planet or become an agent of destruction?

If you would like to meet some of the people behind Fate of the World, the Red Redemption team will be showcasing the game on Friday 25 th March at The Forum on Bethel Street in Norwich as part of UK Climate Week, for an event called Creative Sustainability with fundraising and education organisation Arts&Business, that asks how the creative, technology and sustainability industries can inspire each other to tackle climate change.

Fate of the World encapsulates art’s ability to both raise awareness and comment upon climate change: players can see how universal action can be a powerful agent for both positive and negative change.
