Trashers, which is a game for the iPhone and iPad, wins the award for ‘Best Kids Game in 2011’ in an awards programme considered the Oscars for the App world.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
January 30, 2012. RGH Games (a division of Rubicon Group Holding) has announced that Trashers, a game which invites kids of all ages to board a garbage truck and clean the streets whilst fighting trash monsters, has won its category in the ‘Best App Ever Awards 2011’. Now in its fourth year, organisers received over 1.5 million votes from the public who chose from 7,243 applications, making the awards the largest of its kind.
Trashers, which was only released in December 2011, underwent two rounds of public voting, beating the popular Catch that Bird and Lego® Creationary to the coveted title. It was announced at Macworld Expo in San Francisco by the organisers, 148Apps, which is a leading web-zine that reviews the latest iOS applications to hit the charts.
Winning the award is the latest in a long line of testimonials for RGH Games. The iPhone App Review said the game is “inventive, beautifully drawn and absolutely engaging.” Meanwhile AppDictions.com said “RGH Games has created this unique storyline with plenty of replay value. It features terrific illustrations, graphics and sound, complete with a rumbling garbage truck and belching trash monsters.”
Trashers launched two months after the introduction of the critically acclaimed Dragon Eggs game, and is a perfect example of the production values that RGH is famed for, as John Zuur Platten, Director of Digital Media at RGH explains:
“RGH has roots in responsible entertainment, always ensuring that its imaginations are engaging and entertaining as they are educative. So in this particular game, players join garbage men Gus and Nico, as well as their feathered friend Skiff, to collect all the trash of a city and defeat Doctor O and his minions. In doing so, the game promotes eco-living by asking players to build up strength by removing trash from the dirty streets, left by Doctor O, and earning valuable bonuses by recycling.”
CEO of RGH, Randa Ayoubi said: “The ‘Best App Ever Awards’ are special because they celebrate the best apps by gathering the opinions of actual gamers, rather than quantifying the best selling apps on the various download charts. So we are very happy and proud to have this endorsement from the public – testament to the high quality and engaging production values that RGH Games continually creates.”
