Rovio to open Stockholm office

March 29, 2012 -- Espoo, Finland -- Rovio Entertainment announced today plans to expand to Sweden by opening a games studio in Stockholm. The company is currently searching for a General Manager for this satellite office, which will open later this year. Rovio is targeting to hire 20-30 professionals to Stockholm within a year.

“2012 is going to be a big year in gaming for us, and we’re constantly on the lookout for great new talent,” said Petri Järvilehto, EVP of Games at Rovio. “We’re excited to expand to Stockholm and work in one of Europe’s gaming and innovation hotspots.”

After opening offices in Tampere and Shanghai, Rovio chose Stockholm due to its vibrant game developer and startup scene, and proximity to headquarters in Finland. Sweden has one the most digitally connected economies in the world, and Stockholm was recently named one of “Europe’s hottest startup capitals” by Wired Magazine.

“Rovio’s rapidly growing business provides continuous development opportunities for devoted professionals,” said Maria Sipiläinen from Rovio HR. “Our fun, creative atmosphere and unique brands, products and services make Rovio an internationally attractive employer.”

The application for a General Manager is now open, with Rovio looking for an experienced manager with extensive experience in game development. More information on this and other positions can be found through Rovio Careers.
