Sara Guy from Essex named UK & Ireland’s Most Romantic Lady

Sara Guy from Essex has been named the UK and Ireland’s most romantic lady in a competition run by Cosmopolitan Magazine.

Sara (26) from Essex celebrated Leap Day 2012 by proposing to Dean West (31). She was picked out of over 1000 people in the UK for their best Leap Year proposal suggestion on competitions in Cosmopolitan and Handbag and sponsored by PopCap Games, the makers of videogame, Bejeweled. Her prize? A husband – and a bespoke diamond and sapphire engagement ring worth £5,000!

From Pink Teddy to Marriage Proposal Cake

Sara originally met Dean in a nightclub around Valentine’s Day. She says, “He handed me a teddy holding a pink heart saying “love me”. I was attracted to him because he made me laugh and he has lovely eyes. It really was love at first sight and we moved in after just a month. Dean has given me two beautiful little children – a laid back little boy and a diva daughter. After our children were born, I suffered with bad postnatal depression. But Dean helped me through – making me love him even more. He was really supportive  - encouraging me to do stuff for myself. So, in some ways it should come as no surprise that I would take it upon myself to propose!

Sara and Guy have been together for 8 years and she decided it was time to take the leap. She proposed to him on 29 th February 2012 with a cake - and the Bejeweled ring as a centre piece. And, news just in, he said yes!

According to a recent survey -

·         One in ten of Britons know a girl planning to propose on February 29 th

·         31% of British women think their boyfriends would say yes, but 44% of Britons would say yes as it takes the pressure off

·         47% of Britons don’t think the man should have to buy a ring if the woman proposes
