Date: Aardvark Swift has announced the finalists for the Search for a Star and Rising Star 2013, full details of the finalists and respective universities below. Make a note of the names of this year’s finalists as they are sure to be the some of the top developers working in the games industry in the future. The University of Central Lancashire leads the way with three nominations across both competitions but at this point any individual could win. Final judgement will be made on Tuesday 16 th July at Aardvark Swift with the eventual winners announced on Friday 19 th July.

Search for a Star is a nationwide competition designed to highlight and reward the UK's most promising video games students is going into its fourth year. The competition spans the UK’s leading areas of higher education (universities, blended learning courses and colleges) and is an excellent chance to shine the spotlight on students studying video games related subjects (including computer science and computer games programming) and also highlight the UK's leading courses.
The Search for a Star competition runs alongside Aardvark Swift’s Rising Star competition. The difference between the two competitions is that the entrants for Search for a Star are required to be in their final year of Study. The Rising Star competition is for students not in their final year of study and aims to give entrants industry experience as part of the competitive process and awards placements and internships.
Created by Aardvark Swift the competition is contributed to by some of the UK Games Industry’s most respected video games developers. Content for the competition is produced and marked by Lizi Attwood – The Blast Furnace and Greg Booker – Born Ready Games. Also on the judging panel this year will be Lee Stott – Microsoft, Jason Fielder – Exient and Ryan Sullivan – Boss Alien.
Up for grabs for the winners will not only be physical prizes provided by Microsoft but also internships at some of the most prestigious games developers in the UK, including: Sony Evolution, Exient and Boss Alien.
