SKYRIM HOLDS TOP PLACE, CLOSELY FOLLOWED BY NAUGHTY DOG’S ‘THE LAST OF US’ GRABBING THE WEEK HIGHEST NEW ENTRY

After a lengthy period of rumour, speculation and suggestion, the weekend saw Naughty Dog finally announce their ‘The Last of Us’ Playstation 3 title.  This successful announcement catapulted their latest project to number 2 in this week’s European chart from an almost standing start, although unfortunately it just fell short of removing Elder Scrolls: Skyrim from their number one slot. A position they have held for the last two weeks.

Unsurprisingly this week’s chart in the main contains forthcoming releases for 2012 ,  with the remaining 30% of the chart still being controlled by titles that have seen successful boxed product launches in the last quarter. The most impressive being Batman: Arkham City, the oldest full boxed product in the chart. Jumping 32 places week on week with various stories appearing in the last 7 days, including several national press appearances, something that is quite unusual for a title that launched nearly two months ago.

The chart is compiled from counted activities across all formats within 233 media outlets across Europe, with more being added over the next quarter. It is expected that media outlets included will double in size in the new year. PR activities are included from lifestyle, national and specialist press as well as online coverage also being counted.
