FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
London, October 13, 2011: Slightly Mad Studios today announces that it will allow other developers to use its revolutionary crowd- sourcing meets crowd-funding service WMD ( www.wmdportal.com) following the success of its first project C.A.R.S. World of Mass Development (WMD) provides the face for a unique prospect in development funding that enables members of the public to contribute to the development of upcoming titles to work on them and providing funding.
“The success of C.A.R.S and the interest it has created from other developers meant that opening the platform up to others became the only fair thing to do. We have already allowed fans of racing games to get involved in making the type of game they want and now others can too.” said founder Ian Bell, MD of Slightly Mad Studios.
WMD (World of Mass Development) is a new platform for games creation that will allow players to browse available projects and become members of the development team on any that they are interested in. Whatever their interest or expertise they can work on the games, whether by testing, providing feedback or getting access to state of the art development tools. Through this platform development teams will be enable to submit their ideas to an active gaming community, raise the funds needed to develop them, get continual feedback and have team members working on them – whilst the community plays work-in-progress builds – all leading to the launch of their game to an eagerly-awaiting audience.
“ WMD transforms the way games are created” comments Ian Bell. “By connecting the creators with the players rather than the publishers, a focus on business matters shifts back to concentrating on making great games that people want to play whilst still getting proper QA and funding. ”
