Sonic Dash goes free to play on iOS

Hardlight Studio’s endless runner Sonic Dash has ditched its price tag, and is now free to download on Apple’s App Store.

The change in price arrives alongside an update that adds daily challenges to the game, as well as improved performance for certain iOS devices.

The game was announced and subsequently released last month for $1.99, despite also including in-app purchases – a move that’s generally considered to be having your cake and eating it too with a mobile title.

Seems Sega has seen the light though, matching the game’s monetization methods with other mobile endless runners such as the popular Temple Run franchise.

Hardlight announced on Twitter that those who did purchase the title prior to the switch will find 10 free revive tokens as a way to make up for the sudden change in price.
