Helsinki, Finland (March 5th), 2012 – Umbra Software Ltd. announced today an agreement that allows Square Enix Co., Ltd. to use the Umbra rendering performance middleware in its future videogame projects.
Square Enix Co., Ltd., is one of the world’s most-respected and well known developers and publisher of videogame hit-franchises such as Final Fantasy®, Deus Ex®, Hitman® and many other globally popular videogames.
Umbra’s middleware cuts down CPU and GPU processing time by optimizing critical parts of a game such as rendering, content streaming, AI and game logic. Umbra’s technology is used for framerate optimization as well speeding up the task of developing games. One of the ways Umbra does this is by automatic portal generation during pre-process, which removes the need for artists to manually place portals into the game world.
