SQUIDS, deep sea RPG hit from The Game Bakers, Swims to Windows Phone 8

For immediate release

MONTPELLIER, FRANCE – May 5, 2013 – Independent developer The Game Bakers brings their popular tactical RPG, SQUIDS, to Windows 8 phones:

Developed by a team with years of experience working on AAA games, the lighthearted SQUIDS appeals to a quite broad audience thanks to its casual (yet very addictive!) gameplay, tactical RPG elements, whimsical cartoon art style, and humorous adventure storyline. The Squids' lush underwater world is under threat by insidious black goo. Now it's up to a ragtag team of Squid heroes to fend off the goo-infected crustaceans and protect their homeland from assured destruction.

By choosing among four classes of Squids, each with unique attributes and equipment, players build a team of Squid heroes to engage in turn-based battles against rival crabs and shrimp. The billiards-like controls are easy to learn: simply use the mouse to grab a Squid by the tentacles, take aim, and fling it across the battlefield. Completing the challenge though requires strategy and skill as players learn to use the environment, their party's strengths, and the enemies' weaknesses to the Squids' advantage. A catchy soundtrack and comical animations complement the saga.

SQUIDS' initial release was met with critical acclaim from both players around the globe and the gaming media. Eurogamer lauded its "gorgeously-drawn graphics" and "superb soundtrack," calling SQUIDS "a sheer pleasure to play." Wired's GeekDad said, "The levels are gorgeous ... with a top-down view of the action and tons of lovely details in the backgrounds." And GameZebo awarded the game a perfect score, concluding: "SQUIDS is a rarer find than an all-natural Tahitian pearl. From the gameplay to the graphics to the sound, everything here is pitch-perfect."

Laurent Schlosser from Microsoft states: "We've been delighted to work with The Game Bakers on the development of their little gem and we are happy to welcome the Squids to Windows Phone 8."

"The Windows 8 team was incredibly helpful at all steps of the game development, sharing the expertise they built working with top notch developers" says The Game Bakers's president Audrey Leprince.

SQUIDS will be available for Windows 8 PC and tablets soon.
