STUBBS ALDERTON&MARKILES, LLP PROMOTES STEVE GOLDSTEIN AND LOUIS WHARTON TO PARTNER 

SHERMAN OAKS, CA - February 23, 2011 - Stubbs Alderton&Markiles LLP, the Los Angeles based corporate, securities and intellectual property law firm, today announced the promotion of two lawyers to Partner, Steve Goldstein and Louis Wharton.  Steve Goldstein, a video game industry attorney and former business development executive, was also named Group Chair of the Firm's Interactive Entertainment and Video Games Practice Group.  Since Mr. Goldstein joined the firm as Senior Counsel in late 2008, he has been instrumental in growing the Firm's interactive entertainment and video games practice where he joined partners Scott Alderton, Greg Akselrud and Kevin DeBré.

Mr. Goldstein will continue his practice in the areas of video game publishing agreements, digital distribution agreements, merchandising and co-marketing relationships, alternative financing of game development, global corporate structuring, intellectual property protection and exploitation, Internet best practices, and legal issues related to multiplayer aspects of online games and the use and trade of virtual goods.  In addition to his role at the firm, Mr. Goldstein is also an adjunct professor at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, where he teaches a course on the law of video games and virtual worlds.  Before joining the Firm in late 2008, Mr. Goldstein spent the prior 3 years as the Director of Business Development and General Counsel for Flagship Studios, Inc. 

Mr. Wharton will continue advising startup, emerging growth and middle market companies across a spectrum of industries in securities compliance, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and general corporate matters.  Mr. Wharton's clients are in the technology, internet/e-commerce, pharmaceutical, apparel and entertainment industries, among others.

Jonathan Friedman, an associate of the Firm in the corporate securities practice was also promoted to Senior Counsel. 

The Firm's video game clients now include Curse, Inc. (one of the largest game portals on the Internet), Riot Games, Inc. (League of Legends), Runic Games, Inc. (Torchlight), sekretagent Productions, Inc. (Assassin's Creed franchise) and Turtle Rock Studios (Left 4 Dead).
