Dutch indie game studio Vlambeer has announced the winner for its Super Crate Box papercraft contest, which spanned for two weeks and received almost 40 entries. The challenge was to photograph a papercraft of the epynomous crate in the most original, creative or coolest way possible.

The lucky winner is American-born John Gottschalk, who according to the Vlambeer duo won the contest 'by a mile'. John wins a merchandise-filled crate with the super limited edition of the game, of which only three are in existence. Among the items in the crate are a boxed edition of the game, the original game soundtrack, a plushie, papercraft items and a Vlambeer lighter.

"There were a lot of great entries, including some very original ones, but the amount of effort visible in the winning entry is just astounding.", said Vlambeers' Rami Ismail in the announcement on the Vlambeer website.

Super Crate Box was released the 22nd of October and has garnered over 50.000 downloads since its release. In those two weeks, gamers collected over six million crates worldwide in the game according to the counter on "There's been a lot of buzz about the game, and we're really thankful for everyone who has been tweeting, blogging and talking about the game. It was really cool to see the game pop up in anything from the Minecraft blogs to heated arguments about which weapon is best, or worst."

The other two superlimited edition crates are still in Vlambeers' possession. The second crate is up for grabs for the player with a screenshot/video of the game over screen with the highest score on the SFMT difficulty of the Construction Yard level by November, 14th.

Vlambeer is a new Dutch Indie game studio consisting of game design students Rami Ismail and Jan Willem Nijman, who together decided to take a plunge and go and start a studio instead of taking classes. Their recent work includes Radical Fishing and the indie title Super Crate Box.
