MOSCOW - Jan. 4, 2012

Syncopate, a leading online games publisher in Russia, today announced that it has closed a deal to bring Giant’s Golden Age, a free-to-play, browser-based massively multiplayer online game (MMO), to Russian audiences. An empire-building strategy game with RPG elements, Golden Age will be the first cross-platform Syncopate title, playable either in a web browser or on an iOS device. Russian audiences will be able to access Golden Age through GameNet, Syncopate’s social network and distribution platform for gamers, and in the Russian App Store, in early 2012.

“While Russians now play many different types of games, from the popular client-based MMOs we publish to Russian-developed iPhone games, many of which have become top-grossing apps worldwide, there remain huge numbers of gamers looking for the release of the next great browser-based title," said Ilya Verigin, CEO of Syncopate. " Golden Age, released in China as The Golden Land, is truly a gem among web-based strategy games and enjoys well-deserved international recognition. As Russian gamers, like gamers worldwide, look to play the games they love wherever and whenever they want, we are happy to be supplying this rising demand with a cross-platform title as highly polished as Golden Age. We see very bright prospects for the game here.”

Originally developed by Giant, Golden Age features:

• The ability to play the game anywhere on iOS devices or on a web browser

• MMORPG and strategy game elements – players will enjoy fighting each other in castle sieges and epic kingdom wars or taking their character dungeon-crawling and treasure hunting

• A deep, persistent world

• Unparalleled original graphics and character designs

• Three exciting playable classes, each with unique units, abilities and gameplay styles

• Extensive cooperative features, from basic guild membership to the ability to build mighty alliances and kingdoms

Golden Age is the first web-based game in which we tried to provide the players with the level of gaming experience one can usually only find in full-featured client-based games,” stated Mr. Wen Xuhua, CEO of Juhe Network, a subsidiary of Giant Interactive Group Inc. that developed The Golden Land in China. “We put a lot of effort into this title and drew upon the vast development expertise we acquired over years of successful online game operation. With Syncopate as our partner, we feel confident that Golden Age will create a great success in Russia.”
