Nottingham 18/10/11 - GameCity, the world’s best loved videogame festival, today announced Tale of Tales VS Naughty Dog, on Thursday 27 at 2pm in the Council house Ballroom, Old Market Square, as part of GameCity6. For more details on the festival, go to www.gamecity.org or contact GameCity’s PR & Marketing Coordinator, Chris White, email@example.com
Naughty Dog Lead Game Designer Richard Lemarchand and Tale of Tales will host a conversational event to focus on their unique attitudes as artists and game designers, the influence Tale of Tales have had on Lemarchand’s work and the challenges of making narrative focused games for different kinds of audiences.
Naughty Dog’s Richard Lemarchand said “Many of us at Naughty Dog are very interested in independent and experimental games - the work being done in those worlds is impacting the development of mainstream games in profound ways that we're only just beginning to understand. I'm really looking forward to talking with Auriea and Michaël about their studio's unique approach to videogames as art.”
Lemarchand will lead the talk as Tale of Tale’s founders Auriea Harvey and Michaël Samyn discuss the impact The Graveyard had on Uncharted 2, as well as exploring their work launching the notgames initiative and revealing several currently in work prototypes.
Tale of Tales’ Michaël Samyn said, “It's very encouraging to see mainstream game designers take the exploratory work of independent studios seriously, especially with regards to realizing the potential of this wonderful medium. This gives us hope that maybe one day we will be able to free ourselves from the constraints of conventional gaming and compete with other media head-on.”
Audiences will also be able to quiz Tale of Tales and Lemarchand on their work during a short Q&A session after the main talk.
Tale of Tales VS Naughty Dog is just one part of GameCity6, the annual celebration of videogame culture, which runs from October 25-29th. GameCity6 events are mostly free.
