TECMO KOEI, renowned among gamers for its action games such as Ninja Gaiden and Dynasty Warriors, is making a strategic leap into social games. Mr Shintaro Kobayashi, Senior Executive Director of TECMO KOEI GAMES, the parent company of TECMO KOEI Singapore, sees social games opening up new markets for the company.
“We want to expand our footprint globally through social games, particularly into the casual gamers markets. The Singapore studio will be instrumental in this strategy,” said Mr Kobayashi, who is also the President and Chief Operating Officer of TECMO KOEI Singapore. While TECMO KOEI has already launched social games titles for its own domestic Japanese mobile market, the Singapore studio will be responsible for titles targeted at a global audience.
Mr Kobayashi further revealed that the Singapore studio will not stop at just games for Facebook, which has a target audience of more than 600 million users. The Singapore studio will also develop titles for other social platforms, including those for smart-phones.
The Singapore studio also unveiled its first title for the Facebook platform. Titled JollyWood, it is a simulation game for light casual users. The objective of the game is to create getaways of fun and relaxation amidst scenic landscapes. The game will be officially in service from 18 th May 2011. Revenues of the game will come from in-game item purchases.
