PLANO, Texas– June 18, 2007 - The Guildhall at SMU will hold a career days event for graduating students and alumni on July 26-27 at the program’s campus in Plano, Texas.
“We expect more than 25 video game studios and major publishers from around the country to attend,“said Tricia Skinner, manager of studio relations and placement at The Guildhall at SMU.“Historically more than 50 percent of our graduating students will be hired from the interview process at the event.”
Leading video game studios and publishers who have already signed up for the event include Activision, BioWare Austin, Edge of Reality, Gearbox Studios, High Voltage Software, Red Fly Studio, Sony Online Entertainment, and THQ. Industry officials believe the acquisition of trained and new creative talent is the number one major issues facing video game development.
The Guildhall at SMU is the premier graduate video game education program in the United States. The program offers a graduate certificate and master’s degree in interactive technology. The Guildhall at SMU has a 95 percent placement rate, and its graduates work for more than 60 of the world’s leading video game companies.
The purpose of the school is to prepare professional artists, level designers and programmers for the video game industry. Many of the school’s advisors are industry icons. In addition, industry veterans make up the faculty.
