Atlanta, Georgia - The Making of Wizard's Castle HD for iPad 2 was recently featured on Gamasutra's Game Career Guide website. Wizard's Castle HD is the first game produced by Asgard Studios, a father and son game development studio. Asgard Studio also recently presented The Making of Wizard's Castle at SIEGE 2011 and at the September meeting of the Georgia Game Developers Association (GGDA).
Wizard's Castle HD for iPad 2 is an exciting match and remove game. The goal of the game is to prevent the room from filling up with balls during each three minute round. Players match and remove balls by touching groups of two or more balls of the same color. While manageable at the lowest levels, the game quickly presents a difficult challenge to both hand-eye coordination and finding a winning strategy.
Game Career Guides' article on The Making of Wizard's Castle tells how the father and son team began making video games. It also provides details on what went right and what went wrong during the development of the iPad game. In the article, Randy Herring shares his insights into developing games for the iPad using the Unity game engine. The presentations at the GGDA meeting and SIEGE 2011 covered much of the same material while also sharing insights on the changes in the iOS marketplace.
"Wizard's Castle HD was created in Unity 3 using C# scripts. My son Raymond designed all of the gameplay and the levels. I did all of the programming, and Jeff Bucchino, a local cartoonist, did the 2D art work," stated developer Randy Herring. Nan Avant, an award winning music composer, created the music for version 1.2 of the game.
