Cologne, January 29th 2013 - Turtle Entertainment, the company behind the Electronic Sports League and the Intel Extreme Masters, announces a new premier gaming competition for Europe’s best, the RaidCall EMS One. This will not only create an exciting competition to determine the very best gamers in Europe in both Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2, but will serve an extremely useful purpose to help boost the consistent growth of these communities. Over the year, both games will receive a prize pool of 312,000 US-Dollar in total – the highest prize pot from an independent league ever in either game. RaidCall, a company that specializes in creating a group voice messenger that is suited for both hardcore and casual gamers, becomes the title sponsor of the competition. The most entertaining games will be streamed live on ESL TV, powered by ESL TV's partner Twitch.tv, which is the leading global video platform for gamers.
RaidCall EMS One starts in February
On Monday, February 11th, the first Counter-Strike: Global Offensive cup as part of the first RaidCall EMS One season in 2013 will commence and a day later, the Dota 2 cup will also start. Each season, the best eight teams of the previous season and four national champions will compete with twelve ambitious challengers from ESL's A-Series. The first phase of each season will consist of four weekly online cups, followed by a group stage of four groups with four teams each. They will play a standard Round Robin tournament lay-out to determine which two teams per group will be invited to the final phase; the live event finals. In front of a cheering crowd, the winners of the Single Elimination bracket will walk away with a big chunk of a total purse of $39,000 per season per game; and with the honour of having just become the European Champions.
After taking the initial feedback from the community, it would only be detrimental to ignore the wishes of those we want to support most. As such, the decision to include North American teams in our Dota 2 competition has been approved. Four North-American teams will be able to join the second phase of the first season and try their hand against the best European teams and maybe get a spot in the live event finals.
