The "tripengine" game engine from the Berlin-based software company sprylab opens up completely new opportunities to location-based game developers.

It’s what so many app developers have been waiting for – being able to connect location-based services and augmented reality easily and cost-effectively. With tripengine, the Berlin-based software company sprylab now offers a technological basis for games concepts and app creations by authors, game designers and agencies.

London, 29.11.2012 - The smartphone and tablet market is booming! By mid-2012 Apple alone sold a total of 400 million tablets, iPhones and iPods[1],all of which use their proprietary iOS mobile operating system. Two concepts are always mentioned in connection with the triumph of smartphones and tablets: location-based services and augmented reality. The options that these technologies offer open up completely new opportunities for app developers. In the past, however, the integration of such functions was often complicated and difficult.

The Berlin-based software company sprylab has changed this overnight. By making tripengine and the corresponding tripeditor available to developers, agencies and those in the creative industry, sprylab allows these people to develop location-based games and guides without any in-depth programming knowledge. These games and guides are made available in the tripventure app (on iOS and Android) and via www.tripventure.net/en/tripventure.  sprylab has already released four of its own games (Inspector Tripton (available in the UK), Fall of the Wall, Secret City and Rocco Ratcha). These products combine the entertainment of games with the information content of sightseeing tours to create a completely new city experience. You can now play tripengine-based titles in Berlin, London, Paris, Rome and other major European cities.

With immediate effect, sprylab is inviting app developers, game designers and companies to familiarise themselves with the advantages of tripengine and use it for their own projects under the slogan “Guide, tour, game? One engine - hundreds of opportunities”. tripengine’s functionalities give projects in the fields of family entertainment, tourism, events and edutainment an entirely new dimension.

In order to give app developers prompt access to tripengine, the Berlin-based company is offering various opportunities for collaboration. The game engine can therfore be perfectly integrated into a wide range of projects, no matter what scale.

“tripengine is a fantastic opportunity for app developers to implement their ideas and concepts”, says Benjamin Kolb, Managing Director of sprylab GmbH. “I don’t think it has ever been easier to stage a simple, location-based story than with tripengine. We also offer developers very interesting cooperation and licencing models for using tripengine. No matter whether you are a small team or an international publisher, we provide all interested parties with quick and easy access to tripengine.”

sprylab is already in talks with several renowned developers and authors. The Berlin-based company expects further contracts with tripventure partners to be concluded soon.

In addition to this press release, you will receive a PDF brochure on tripengine that demonstrates features and examples of app projects that use tripengine.
