Regensburg , 15. December 2011 – Quirefang is the name of the new area, which has been introduced with Tibia’s annual Xmas update. It is huge, it offers plenty of new treasures to discover, quests to solve, new creatures to defeat and … it is partly underwater.
An underwater area has been on the players’ wish list for quite some time. With this year’s annual Xmas update, they are finally able to use their already available swimming skills for more than just playing water polo. Now they can dive deep into the Tibian ocean. Down there they will discover the ancient race of so called “Deeplings” and will even be able to ride manta rays.
The opposing race is an insect-like species called “Hive Born”. It already managed to leave the sea and to populate the shores and land. Both races compete in their domination of the island and Tibia players have the possibility to support their favourite side. Depending on the degree of support both races are getting, the island will change its appearance.
CipSoft calls this concept “World changes” and it wasn’t been introduced that long ago. Aside from a couple of permanently running world changes CipSoft also introduced a dozen of smaller world changes which occur randomly and with a limited duration only. Although different in frequency and impact, both types of world changes follow one simple idea: variation. Players log in to the same game at the same place and it still might look different every day.
Attentive players could have guessed the introduction of another big part of this year’s update, as it ranked at first place in a recently issued poll: The “Market”.
Whenever adventurers set out to conquer their world, they are bringing home piles of loot - hopefully. Until now, Tibia players were only able to sell them to a fellow player, if both were present at the same time in the same place. The market now serves as a bill board and transaction platform at the same time, very much like an auction house. Even though every player can look at the offered items and place a bid, only Premium players are allowed to place an offer.
