TibiaME moves from subscription to micro transaction

Regensburg, April 10, 2012 – TibiaME, the first MMORPG for mobile phones ever, changes its business model from premium subscription to micro transactions.

From now on, TibiaME offers its players the possibility to purchase and unlock certain in-game benefits for an unlimited time. While the former subscription model basically followed a “rent-a-benefit” principle, the new model follows a “buy-a-benefit” principle.

“The subscription combined all benefits in one package. However, most of our players didn’t really need all benefits, but still had to pay for them. So we decided to split this collection up and to offer these benefits individually” says Benjamin Zuckerer, TibiaME’s Lead Product Manager at CipSoft. “By doing this, we could both lower the prices and offer more fitting products.”

In total, TibiaME now offers more than 50 different products, which can be purchased with the new “Platinum” currency. The offer ranges from access to certain areas and faster levelling to character customisation and many more.

TibiaME had been released as early as 2003. Since then, the Premium subscription has been the only form of monetisation. In addition to new micro transaction model, TibiaME will still keep the subscription offer.
