TIGA&Activision continue to press for Games Tax Relief

As the new Government’s Emergency Budget approaches, set for 22nd June, TIGA, the trade association representing the UK video games industry and Activision, the worldwide pure-play online and console game publisher, met with Members of Parliament to restate the case for the urgent introduction of Games Tax Relief that was announced in the last Budget.

They met Don Foster MP (Liberal Democrat spokesperson for Culture, Media and Sport in the last Parliament), Jim McGovern MP (Labour MP for Dundee West), and Stewart Hosie MP (SNP MP for Dundee East).

Richard Wilson, TIGA CEO stated:

“I am delighted that Brian Ward (Senior Vice President, Worldwide Studios, Activision) has been able to meet with Parliamentarians that recognise the challenges faced by the UK video games industry and understand the need for Games Tax Relief. The introduction of Games Tax Relief is the number one policy priority of the industry and is central to ensuring that the UK video games industry can compete on a level playing field with our overseas competitors.”

“Games Tax Relief will be good for the UK games industry, good for consumers and good for the wider UK economy. It will generate more jobs, more investment, more innovation and more tax receipts for HM Treasury.”
