IGA, the trade association representing the UK games industry, is turning the spotlight on the UK video games industry this week in Cologne at Gamescom. The UK is the official partner country at Gamescom, the trade fair for video games held at the Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany, which runs from August 17th - 21st. TIGA and a delegation of UK companies are exhibiting at this year’s show via the UKTI Trade Access Programme and TIGA will oversee the UK's official presence and promotion at the event. Dr Richard Wilson will represent the UK games industry to The Parliamentary State Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, Mr Hans-Joachim Otto, the Mayor of Cologne, Jürgen Roters, and the Minister for Federal Affairs, Europe and Media of North Rhine Westphalia, Dr. Angelica Schwall-Düren.

Dr Richard Wilson, TIGA CEO, said:

“As the trade association championing the UK video games industry TIGA is delighted that the UK is the official partner of Gamescom. TIGA is overseeing the UK’s official promotion of Gamescom and we intend to highlight the strengths of the UK games industry in Cologne this week.”

The UK businesses attending are Attractive Entertainment, Asylum Entertainment, Outsource media UK, Doublesix, ICO Partners, Interactive Selection, Hello Games, Natural Motion and Games Masters.  The TIGA team will be exhibiting in hall 4.2 stand J051 in the UK pavilion.

To celebrate our selection as partner country, UKTI & TIGA have also created an additional programme for UK companies attending this year’s show.  The purpose is to increase the visibility of all of British businesses, create valuable networking opportunities and a value for money package which brings businesses together to raise the profile of the UK games industry as a whole. There will be tours, a roundtable event, networking and opportunities to meet with companies such as Bigpoint, Wooga, Koch media, Rebel Play and presentations from industry speakers such as Guilliaume de Fondaumiere of Quantic Dream.
