TIGA, the trade association representing the UK games industry, will today meet members of the House of Commons Scottish Affairs Committee at the University of Abertay Dundee, an international centre of excellence for video games education. Colin Anderson, TIGA board member and MD of Denki, will be meeting the members of the Committee at the University.
Commenting on the meeting, Colin Anderson said:“It’s excellent that the Scottish Affairs Committee are coming to see the world class facilities we have in Dundee at the University of Abertay, and also to learn more about Scotland’s video games sector. TIGA has been campaigning consistently to raise awareness of the challenges facing the video games industry and this visit is a testament to the fact that politicians and policy makers are taking these concerns seriously.
“I am looking forward to discussing TIGA’s Games Tax Relief proposal with members of the Committee and highlighting the fact that the Scottish and wider UK video games industry are currently competing on an uneven playing field. We need Games Tax Relief to ensure the industry continues to fulfil its potential.”
TIGA is the trade association representing the UK’s games industry. The majority of our members are either independent games developers or in-house publisher owned developers. We also have games publishers, outsourcing companies, technology businesses and universities amongst our membership. TIGA was awarded‘Trade Association of the Year’ and the‘Member Recruitment Award’ at the Trade Association Forum Best Practice Awards 2010.
TIGA's vision is to make the UK the best place in the world to do games business. We focus on three sets of activities: political representation, generating media coverage and developing services that enhance the competitiveness of our members. This means that TIGA members are effectively represented in the corridors of power, their voice is heard in the media and they receive benefits that make a material difference to their businesses, including a reduction in costs and improved commercial opportunities.
