TownCraft funded by Screen Australia

Flat Earth Games receives Screen Australia funding for TownCraft

The indie game from Sydney, Australia, TownCraft , has just been allocated funding from Screen Australia to help build the title for iPhone and other platforms and localise it to new languages.

The game was created at Flat Earth Games by brothers Rohan Harris and Leigh Harris and a team of local artists, and was the #2 paid iPad app in the country within weeks of its Australian launch.*

Fiona Cameron, COO of Screen Australia, said: “ We’re thrilled to be able to support Flat Earth Games to build on the early success of TownCraft by launching the game overseas and porting it on to different platforms.

The first version of the game was a hit at PAX Australia, and has had a positive start on the App Store. Flat Earth Games will benefit from an injection of capital to turn the initial excitement into a sustainable business.

This funding will allow us to ensure that TownCraft has the best possible shot at a successful international launch,” added Leigh Harris Co-Director of Flat Earth Games. “ We’ll be able to make sure we have strong language support, hit as many platforms as we can, and can market the game properly, really giving us the best possibly shot at turning our great start into a big success.”

The Sydney Morning Herald called TownCraft “addictive and fun”, while Australian Game Informer said it "could approach 'next big thing' status". CNet Australia said it was the “kind of game we'd like all town and resource management games to aspire to”, and it has received a slew of positive reviews since launch.**

TownCraft is available now from the App Store for iPad 2 and up, and iPad Minis for AUD$5.49, USD$4.99, £2.99 or €4.49."> Email us for any review copies, screenshots, interviews and more...
