Bookmakers Victor Chandler has released odds for the GAME Award, which is the only prize to be voted for by the public, at the GAME British Academy Video Game Awards on 19th March.
Uncharted 2 is leading the way at 6/4 after the news that it has officially become one of the fastest-selling titles for Playstation. Last week, the game won ten prizes at The Academy of Interactive Arts&Sciences (AIAS) awards. This accolade followed Uncharted 2 being announced as the game of the year for gaming websites, Metacritic and IGN.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is second favourite for the award at 9/4. It grossed $550,000,000 in the first five days of its release and has since exceeded the $1 billion mark, which makes it the biggest-selling video game in all of entertainment history.
Other leading contenders for the award are Batman Arkham Asylum, Assassin’s Creed II, Wii Sports Resort and Legend Of Zelda Spirit Tracks.
Peter Laverick, marketing director of Victor Chandler, said of the odds:
“Unchartered 2 is a very strong favorite at 6/4 and we’ve already taken numerous four figure bets on it, for those looking for an outside bet we have seen support for FIFA 10 at 33/1. It’s always tricky offering odds on a public vote so we’ll be keeping a close eye on the money rolling in!”
Neil Ashurst, head of UK PR for GAME said:
“We’ve already seen huge interest from all over the world in this year’s award with people campaigning online for their favourite title. As the deadline looms closer, I would urge all gamers to cast their vote at www.baftagameaward.com and make sure their voice is heard.”
People can vote for their choice at www.baftagameaward.com– with voting closing at midday on Tuesday 16th March.
