Vehicle Design Legend Illustrates How to Create the Racer of the Future

LOS ANGELES – October 18, 2011 – In The Art of ‘Pulse’ – Designing Futuristic Race Vehicles , now available from The Gnomon Workshop, highly acclaimed concept design artist Harald Belker shares how to create a jaw-dropping futuristic vehicle, sun sparkling off its metallic hull, hovering inches above the asphalt as it speeds along a race track.

Based off his latest book, “ PULSE: A Complete Guide to Futuristic Racing,” Belker covers the latest process used in entertainment design and concept creation and guides viewers through the integration of several industry-standard tools. From building a racer in Modo®, to rendering the model in KeyShot®, putting on the finishing touches in Adobe Photoshop®, and designing the environment in Google Sketch Up®, Belker provides detailed instruction for aspiring artists interested in vehicle design.

”Harald provides a very insightful look into his creative process for developing innovative car designs and renderings that pop,” said Scott Robertson, founder of Design Studio Press. “This set of DVDs is a great introduction to car design and rendering.”

After graduating from the Art Center College of Design, Belker began designing cars for Porsche, before moving on to Mercedes Benz in California. There, he worked on the Smart Car as well as the ‘S’ and ‘M’ class models. Though Belker’s early design work was focused on the industrial aspect of automotive design, he acquired a taste for entertainment design when designing the Batmobile for the movie, Batman and Robin. With a list of credits that include Minority Report, Armageddon, Inspector Gadget, Cat in the Hat and Tron Legacy, Belker describes his work as “graphically bold, with the sensitivity and vision to push new forms.”
