WINIFRED PHILLIPS RECEIVES GLOBAL MUSIC AWARD FOR ASSASSIN'S CREED III® LIBERATION

San Diego, March 11, 2013 - Game composer Winifred Phillips has been awarded a Global Music Award for her music score for the Assassin’s Creed® III Liberation video game (Ubisoft®).  Winifred Phillips composed the entire score for the Assassin’s Creed III Liberation video game, which was released for the PlayStation Vita in October 2012.

The Global Music Awards recognize the original music and unique voices of talented international musical artists. Evaluated on the basis of overall musical excellence, winners of the Global Music Awards include prominent composers for film, television and video games; outstanding songwriters and bestselling recording artists from the world of popular music; and illustrious composers whose works have been performed in concert halls around the world.

This Global Music Award is the latest in a long string of accolades that Phillips has received for her musical score for Assassin's Creed III Liberation, which has also won both a Hollywood Music in Media Award and a GameFocus Award. In addition, Phillips received a "Best Composer of 2012" Award from GameMusic.net for her music for Assassin's Creed III Liberation. Phillips’ music for Assassin’s Creed III Liberation is currently nominated for a GANG Award from the Game Audio Network Guild. Both Higher Plain Music and Artastic Gaming have honored the music of Assassin's Creed III Liberation with a "Best Soundtracks of 2012" award. Also, Phillips’ music for Assassin’s Creed III Liberation was nominated for a Best of IGN Award, a GameSpot Special Achievement Award and a G4TV X-Play Award.

The music of the Assassin’s Creed III Liberation game was released as an official soundtrack by Ubisoft Music. The soundtrack is comprised of 26 tracks totaling 68 minutes of music, and is available on iTunes, Amazon.com and other online retailers. Phillips' original score for Assassin’s Creed III Liberation has been described as "superb" by GameZone, "killer music" by MTV Multiplayer, “spectacular” by Hard Reset, "sweeping" by IGN, “fantastic” by Gaming Examiner, and "a stealthy success" by Kotaku.

Assassin’s Creed III Liberation includes key pillars of the franchise that fans of the series know and love, including combat, free-roaming navigation and a rich story full of intrigue and twists, delivering a true Assassin’s Creed experience to the Sony PlayStation® Vita. Gamers play as the series’ first female protagonist, Aveline. A woman of conviction, Aveline is fighting for freedom in 18th century New Orleans – a city on the brink of a rebellion as the Spanish Empire imposes its new rule.
