(Seoul, October 2, 2008) -- The World Cyber Games (WCG), the recognized blue chip leader for international video game competitions, has announced the results of the international group drawing today in Seoul, Korea. With over 1.5 million competitors from 78 having participated, the final stage is set for the elite 700 participants to represent their countries and compete at the highest level of competitive gaming, the World Cyber Games Grand Finals.
The result of the group drawing was announced through live VOD service on the WCG official website. Game fans from all over the world watched the results by logging onto the official website www.WCG.com.
As new gamers and teams prepare for their first WCG 2008 Grand Final, a number of the best players from previous tournaments are set to return better than ever. Some of themost notable players returning include last year's medalists Byeong-Gun 'iamgrunt' Kang (Korea) in Age of Empires III: The Asian Dynasties, Shaun 'Apollo' Clark (UK) in Project Gotham Racing 4 and Christoph 'Mondragon' Semke (Germany) who will take stage in Cologne. Other well-known players like Manuel 'Grubby' Schenkhuizen (Netherlands) and Jae-Ho 'MYM>Moon' Jang (Korea) in WarCraft III: The Frozen Throne, Byung-Gu 'Stork' Song (Korea) in StarCraft: Brood War, SK-Gaming (Sweden) in Counter-Strike add to the excitement of the games.

The rules reflect feedback solicited from gamers around the world, related tests and verification by e-Sport professionals which includes previous WCG finalists. Official maps for individual games, tournament processes and basic settings wereimproved so that gamers, as well as spectators, can enjoy the setting and pace of the WCG tournament.
Based on previous WCG rules, newly adopted WCG 2008 tournament rules are upgraded reflecting gamers' preferences and designed to create more exciting games. Thumbs Down (Map Veto) method of selection has been set as the general rule in the second phase of tournament play. Rules to restrict unfair play have been strengthened as well.
