" I want to strike a blow for making video games more accepted as an art form," says CEO Rolf Jansson of Code Club AB. " The music was created with a concept album release in mind. It had to work ingame as well of course, so initially it was a matter of finding the right artist."
That right artist turned out to be Tom E Morrison, producer and owner of BigSky Songs Ltd. " I came across Tom's work while listening to eastern lounge music. His songs stood out with the high quality moods and I thought, this would be perfect for Wurm!'"
A year later and Morrisons' work graces Wurm Online in its first installment, to be followed by "Travel & Exploration" and "Battle & Danger," due for release in the near future to complete the trilogy of albums.
The three albums will attempt to tell a story of multiple chapters, handling different aspects of the game through music. They will convey a genuine emotion that blends into the game experience as well as standing on its own.
Additionally, the album was mastered by producer Andy Jackson, sound engineer for Pink Floyd. " It's fantastic. He was involved in making The Wall, the greatest concept album of all time. And here he is 30 years later, involved in making our first game concept album as well!" Rolf concludes.
Rolf recently posted an update on his blog, further elaborating his thoughts on the matter of music, games and art. Read it at: http://wurmonline.tumblr.com/post/56684861121/this-music-business
