Xfire, UOL BoaCompra Partner for Expansion of e-Sports Market in Brazil and Portugal

SAN FRANCISCO – March 19, 2013 – UOL BoaCompra, the leader in publishing and monetizing gaming in Latin America, and Xfire™, the world's top online destination for millions of gamers, announced a new partnership and licensing agreement for UOL BoaCompra to be the exclusive operator of Xfire and Battleground in Brazil and Portugal. Launched earlier this month, Xfire’s Battleground is the first fully automated online competitive gaming platform that unifies competitive PC games into a seamless and engaging e-sports experience.

Starting in Brazil, and extending later to Portugal, the Xfire website, in-game chat client and Battleground platform will be localized to these territories, and community support will be handled by UOL BoaCompra. UOL BoaCompra also will take the Battleground IP into e-sports events for these countries, and will leverage its users and offerings with Xfire's technology and platform to position itself as a leader in competitive gaming.

The Battleground format is simple and easy to use, with three primary modes for gamers: Instant Action, Challenges and Tournaments. Currently, Battleground offers Instant Action for hardcore players to jump into servers and earn or lose tokens for head shots and kills, with the chance to win monthly sweepstakes for major prizes.

Coming soon, more titles will be added, and players will be able to face their friends (or foes) with Challenges, use Tournament mode to participate in sponsored tournaments from Xfire partners, and – for the first time – create and organize their very own tournaments through a full competitive product suite. Battleground currently supports Call of Duty 4 and Counter-Strike: Source, with additional titles to be added regularly, including Call of Duty 2, Counter-Strike: Go, World of Tanks, Team Fortress 2, Planetside 2 and District 187.
